02/13/08: We are two weeks away from the first day of the tournament. We have 56 members signed up. I have 6 people listed as partners that have not registered yet. We will have over 60 participants. We have two non boaters wanting to go and are still looking for a partner. If you know of any boaters looking let me know or if a non - boater needs to drop out. Everyone be safe on the way down. If anything happens and you can't make it for whatever reason please call me. Don't forget there is a Border Milk Social on Monday night at 7 at the Amistad Lake Resort hosted by the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce. The pre - tournament meeting is Feb 26 at 6 pm at the Amistad Lake Resort. Boaters bring your insurance. Everyone bring your fishing licenses. Be safe, Have fun, I will see you there.

02/01/08: At the BOD meeting I stated that I was expecting 40 boats for the STQT. What I meant was I was expecting 40 participants. There may be more than 40 but it is hard to tell at this point. We may have 40 boats but I can never tell. 24 days and counting. Please sign up as soon as you can. It takes me a lot of time to enter all of your information into the new Tournament software. If a lot of people wait until Feb 22 to sign up I am going to have to spend many hours typing this stuff in. I don't want to have to do that when I get down there. A little each day is not too bad. If this is a problem this year I will have to make the cutoff for registration next year at least 2 weeks before the tournament. I plan to post the tournament results each day after weigh in on this web page. Click on the Results tab above or to the left. I will also try to post pictures. Not promising on the pictures though. I will talk with Frank and I'm sure we can work this out. Tell everyone not going they can check the days results starting at 6:30 mdt each day. Audrey called me and notified me that several people’s dues are not yet paid, either for the Federation or for BASS. People who have already registered were notified. If you have not yet registered please verify that you are current. When you get to the pre - tournament meeting there will be a registration table, please check in. We will verify your information and ask to see your Texas and Mexico fishing license. Boaters will be asked to show proof on insurance, Mexico and US. Minimum requirement for both is $300,00 liability coverage. You will be asked to sign the waiver and receive a copy of the rules. READ THE RULES!!

01/22/08: Please check the Mexico fishing regulations. Click here. I have heard that each angler is only allowed 4 rods on the deck of the boat but I cannot find it in the regulations. Use your best judgment. If someone knows where to find this regulation please forward it to me.

01/22/08: I have found out that Boat permits are not required for sport fishing in Mexican waters as of January 2008. Click Here. Thanks Allan! There is also a cheaper way to get a Mexico fishing license. It is half the price of the link that was here before. Fill out the form and mail it in with a money order. If you would like to wait to get your Mexico fishing license, you can purchase them there at Amistad Marine (Ranger dealer) on HWY 90 West, 830-775-0878, or Fisherman's Headquarters (Chevron at the Y of 90 & 277 N) 830-774-5670. Fisherman's Headquarters opens early and serves a great breakfast in the cafe.

Currently regular unleaded fuel is @ $2.90 per gallon.

01/11/08: Here is the link to the off limits areas for the tournament. This is subject to change if additional areas are deemed restricted. Amistad Off Limits Areas I will go over these at the pre tournament meeting.

01/07/08: All participants must have their BASS and Federation dues paid to fish in the STQT. This will be checked at the pre-tournament meeting. If you pay your BASS dues, Federation dues or both immediately prior to the tournament please bring your receipt as proof. If you pay your dues to the club, get a receipt from the club treasurer. I will compare the roster against the Federation and BASS list of paid members and try to notify people. If you wait until the pre-tournament meeting you will be required to pay in cash.

01/07/08: Anglers will be allowed to pre-fish with significant others not entered in the tournament provided their travel partner does not mind and they are not an expert on the lake or a guide on Lake Amistad. An expert is considered to be someone with expert knowledge of the lake such as a fisheries biologist for lake Amistad. This is consistent with BASS rules.

01/03/08: We are getting close. Can you feel the excitement? Please register online as soon as possible.

12/09/07: It's Official! The Lake will not be off limits on Feb 24, 2008. All of the clubs reported to me that the clubs vote was to fish the extra day. I have added a roster page so everyone can see how many people are signed up. As of now there are only two people registered. I will update the page weekly.

12/05/07: I have added a find a partner button to the top of this page. If you are looking for a travel partner check the list to see who else is looking. If you would like to be added, send me an email and I will add you to the list. After you find a partner let me know so I can remove you from the list.

12/03/07: The Requirement for participants to have a passport has been lifted. According to the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative issued by the Department of Homeland Security, travel by land or sea to Mexico and Canada only requires a valid state ID and certified birth certificate (raised seal). Passports will not be required until the summer of 2008 for travel to Mexico by land or sea. Participants without a passport will be required to carry their id and birth certificate while fishing. See WHTI website for more details.

12/02/07: The off limits dates may change based on what the majority of clubs want to do in regards to Sunday Feb 24 not being off limits as it is not an official practice day. Clubs should discuss this at their December meeting and let me know. I mistakenly assumed everyone wanted the extra day to fish. I did not take into account that not all may be able to fish on Sunday and may feel it would give an unfair advantage to those who can make it to fish on Sunday.
