2nd QUARTER BOARD MEETING

Meeting called to order at 12:30pm. By 12:35 5 clubs were present.

Secretary’s report was accepted as posted.

Treasurers’ report was accepted

CAST is set for June 5th at Horestooth.  April 24th there will be an event at Donovan Ponds, More info to follow from CBC.

By 1:00pm 8 clubs were represented and the 2005 STQT selection process began. Each club was asked to bring 5 lakes to the meeting for consideration. Through a multi round elimination process, these lakes would be trimmed down to three for final review by the clubs. Each club will bring back their favorite two lakes for final selection at the August meeting. Tournament dates will be selected after we know what lake we will fish. A number of lakes were submitted, the following is a list of those, which had more than 1 vote.

In the first round we eliminated two lakes leaving

In the second round Elephant Butte was eliminated.

Each Club will pick their favorite two and bring them to the August meeting.

The state team contract was discussed. This will be handed out to the top 15 finishers at this years STQT. Alterations were discussed and the final contract was motioned seconded and passed.

Straw pole of total boats for this years STQT showed approx 40 boats.

WEB SITE:  Encourage all clubs to utilize their pages on the web site. Also keep them updated by removing ’01 and ’02 info.

New Business:   How to fund the Junior Club. Proposal to change STQT payout 75% to the state team, 15% to the Federation. 10% to Junior club. Other ideas include funding themselves with fundraisers, food concessions where CAST events are held (this would require a sales tax license). Shirt sales or equipment raffle (may require lottery license). Possible tournament to fund juniors. Amounts needed are unknown at this point and this matter was tabled until August meeting. Discuss with the clubs and bring ideas in August.

John brought up a funding idea for the federation or the junior club involving map sales. He showed those present literatures from a company that distributes fishing maps. We (I.E. the federation) receive $7.98 per map sold. A motion was made and seconded to allow John to pursue this idea and gather more info.

Discussion of an appreciation day aimed at DOW and other related organizations. How would those invited be selected, what could we expect for involvement. Jeff Jones will investigate how many DOW officials would be interested. Also we should include City and State park officials.

3rd quarter meeting will be at the Sportsman’s warehouse 1-225 and Alameda. At 12:00 noon August 21, 2004. Meeting adjourned at 2:32pm.
